Investment in Cyber

Its here!!!! You have to wholeheartedly support the Coalition Government’s decision to invest in an enhanced national cyber security strategy, and feel reassured that the Government is clearly taking the cyber threat seriously. The threat is a real one, not only for the UK but for governments around the world. In addition, cyber security has to support the general economic development of the UK moving forward, making it more than just a question of defending against cyber terrorism but of also providing economic confidence and stability to the nation.

What is more, the budget cuts being announced this week are likely to drive an increase in online citizen transactions with the Government, putting our personal information and our businesses as well as our national security at greater risk. SophosLabs alone sees 60,000 new examples of malware every day, including many specifically targeted at Government organisations. Confidence is key, and therefore the safeguards organisations put in place provide us, the consumers of e-Government, the peace of mind that Government won’t allow itself be be a target, and that the overall national cyber security strategy is watertight.

The investment is timely, wise and one that should be celebrated
